Torture, Popular Culture, and the Truth
a BARCAT facilitated presentation for small groups

BARCAT’s speakers’ bureau members are available to present “Torture, Popular Culture and the Truth.”In this lively presentation, we explore compelling questions about US torture: American support for torture revealed in polls, reasons given to use torture, ways torture is presented in popular media, why torture is ineffective, how effective interrogators get information, the real reasons a government tortures, and the case for investigating. It includes showing the 14-minute DVD by Human Rights First, “Primetime Torture”. We offer this presentation free (donations gratefully accepted) to any group within a two-hour drive of Berkeley. To arrange a meeting with your group or congregation, email Louise Specht.

We are looking for new presenters and hold training sessions periodically. If you would like to learn to do this, or would like to put together a presentation like this yourself, email Louise Specht.
